Huge thanks to Siobhan Brennan of Crazy Glazing for creating the design for this litter and waste mural which was painted beautifully by the students of fifth class. We hope this mural is inspiration for the school as we work towards our sixth Green Flag for Global Citizenship Litter and Waste.
Our Green Schools Committee for 2018-19 is:
2nd class: Adam Finlay and Curtis Culliton 3rd class: Jamie Hayden-Cranfield and Taylor Nolan 4th class: Thomas Cassidy and Dáithí Devaney 5th class: Scott McCullough and Ben Kelly 6th class: Stephen Burke, Nicolai Callaghan and Daniel Doyle Staff: Mr Smith, Ms O'Neill and Marvin Bautista Thanks to all of our committee for volunteering as we work towards our 6th Green Flag for Global Citizenship Litter and Waste. We had a Marine Biology workshop today from Oceaneers Education with 5th and 6th class where we learned how to construct an underwater microphone. Loraine Grant talked about different types of whale and the sounds they make underwater. We were particularly impressed by "The Star Wars vocalisation" sound that is made by the Minkie Whale. There are 24 species of whales and dolphins found off the coasts of Ireland (see our poster on our Biodiversity board for more information) and we created a hydraphone to listen to the sounds of an orca. We'd like to say thanks again to Loraine for her help and we give the workshop our "seal of approval"! ^ 6th class workshop ^ 5th class workshop
