HAROLD BOYS' GREEN SCHOOLS BLOG
Our Progress SO Far
We are very proud to have earned our fifth green flag last year. The themes we have covered so far are Litter and Waste, Energy, Water, Travel and Biodiversity. We have now moved on to the Global Citizenship flags, starting with Global Citizenship: Litter & Waste.
The slideshow above shows some of our highlights from our Green Schools work over recent years. Over the last few years we have finished third in the Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown Tidy Schools Competition, won the Best School with Little or No Green Space two years in a row at the Tidy Schools awards, featured in a segment on RTE's News 2day programme, hosted the Bin Your Litter Game at the end of a Gum Litter march with other local schools in the Dalkey area, built a bug hotel for our school garden, painted a new Litter and Waste themed mural in our school yard and put up annual window displays of recycled Christmas decorations in Roberts of Dalkey!
With the involvement of our students, staff, parents and local community, we hope to continue with a wide range of Green Schools activities in Harold Boys' and help the environment and our future.
